Response to Intervention
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a process used to help students who are struggling with a skill. It is a multi-tiered approach to provide supports to students with academic and behavior concerns.
At Gilmer Elementary, we use our universal screener to gather information for each child. The universal screener is not the only source of data that we use to make decisions. The classroom teachers gather formal and informal data daily on each child in their class which is valuable when determining specific needs of each child. Once a deficit is identified, then a plan is created for the child. The plan is designed as a short term intervention.
